Dear Reader,
This year marks the fourth edition of our Hiking Heroes Bulletin, reflecting our growth and commitment to environmental advocacy. What began as a small initiative has transformed into a 60-page publication, with 300 copies distributed to libraries and schools in Virginia, New Jersey, Northern and Southern California, Maryland, and Seoul and Jeju Island, South Korea.

Made from recycled paper, our bulletin underscores our dedication to sustainability. We also launched a digital magazine to enhance accessibility and raise awareness about environmental issues among students. Our first Hiking Heroes Environmental Writing Contest attracted enthusiastic participation, encouraging students to express their views on environmental advocacy creatively.
Looking ahead, Hiking Heroes Virginia and our chapters plan to implement projects that actively engage local students in environmental protection. By fostering a sense of responsibility, we aim to inspire the next generation to become stewards of the environment.
Finally, I want to thank my colleagues who contributed to the 2024 bulletin. Their late-night efforts and valuable feedback were essential to our success. Together, we’ve created something special, and I am proud of what we’ve accomplished.

Enjoy,
Ashley Chon
